the ear will curl slightly and will have a more "natural" look.

Place ear rounds together with wrong sides facing inward and right sides facing outward and sew all around, except bottom of ear.
Leave that open to insert into toy, to give more strength to the ear.
Sew eyes in place using leftover tails. Thread needle with a bit of Black and embroider 2 dots for nostrils in top center of muzzle, between eyes. Fasten off.
Make a Black dot in center of each eye. Fasten off. Still with Black, embroider eyebrows on top of eyes. Fasten off.

Fasten off. Weave in tials.
Done!

Funmigurumi Monkeyroo No. 6: Peanuts

Best Blog Tips

Remember that I told you guys that before long I would wind up making the monkeys with colors all over? Well, I couldn't help myself with this one! "He who has given you life knows your need of food to sustain it. He who created the body is not unmindful of your need of raiment. Will not He who has bestowed the greater gift bestow also what is needed to make it complete?
Jesus pointed His hearers to the birds as they warbled their carols of praise, unencumbered with thoughts of care, for "they sow not, neither do they reap"; and yet the great Father provides for their needs. And He asks, "Are not ye of much more value than they?"
"No sparrow falls without His care,
No soul bows low but Jesus knows;
For He is with us everywhere,
And marks each bitter tear that flows.
And He will never, never, never
Forsake the soul that trusts Him ever." . . .

Funmigurumi Monkeyroo 5: (Baby Rattle) Amapola

Best Blog Tips

Amapolas are "poppies" in Spanish. The most common are huge red ones. This baby rattle is red and I thought Amapola was a great name for a monkey. Don't you think? It is a fun name and this is a fun toy. It is also very easy to make. I thought to name it "LoudLee" because it "rattles" really well while it bobs its head back and forth, but thought better of it when I ran into Amapola again.

Amapola is a "sockie" monkeyroo, in other words, a sock-monkey-style rattle. Hope you like her!

How to finish toy: Insert second cat toy ball into Head. Stuff with Fiberfill. Insert handle into bottom of head. Weave red tail in an out of remaining stitches in head and pull to close around edge of handle.
Sew them all together really well so handle will not come off! Fasten off. Weave in tail.
If you would like the toy to be "stiffer" (not to have a funny wobby head as you rattle it for baby) you may insert a small craft stick that will go from the head to the top of the base cat ball (and you will not use the jingle bells.) The toy will have less sound though.
Sew them all together really well so handle will not come off! Fasten off. Weave in tail.
You're done!

Funmigurumi Monkeyroo 4: Bananas

Best Blog Tips

Bananas is my fourth monkeyroo (counting two baby rattles and LeeLoo) and I must admit, she's been the most fun to make! I wanted to give her the playful, colorful, fun look that characterizes the Funmigurumi which are my trademark. Also, she had to have her own "personality." Here she is! What do you think?
If you love Bananas and would like to make her, here's the pattern:

Bend yarn in half, pairing ends to same length, insert hook in desired spot and using the middle of the yarn as a loop, pull that loop through the desired stitch, then place the ends over your index finger and using the hook, pull them both through the loop you just formed. Pull to tighten ("hair" attached.)Continue this way until you have attached all the pieces suggested. Still holding the "pinched" wrinkle, taking the needle, secure it by sewing the stitches firmly in place on the inside of Banana's Face. Repeat with the upper "lip." Use photos to guide yourself. To make sure the "lips" will stay in place, make a couple of stitches on each edge of the Mouth. Fasten off.

Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with. Sew as follows: Insert eash piece’s bottom part behind the upper part of muzzle. Pin in place. Sew. Fasten off.

Stuff muzzle. Measure to center and pin in place. Sew in place using Shocking Pink.
Tip: Push fiberfill stuffing downwards and make a row of tiny, invisible stitches two rows below the eyes to keep the stuffing in place. Otherwise, the filling will go up and the muzzle will look like a beak.

Rnds 32 to 45- 1 sc in each sc around. Fasten off Wedgewoods. Rnd 46- Join Claret. Make 1 sc in each sc around. Rnds 47 to 49- 1 sc in each sc around. Fasten off Claret. Rnd 50- Join Shocking Pink. Make 1 sc in each sc around. Rnds 51 to 52- 1 sc in each sc around. Fasten off Shocking Pink, leaving long piece of yarn to sew with.
Tip for sewing: Wedgewoods, as many variegated yarns is a slightly “thinner” worsted weight, and once the tial is stuffed, it will tend to “pull” at the crocheted fabric, bringing it down. To avoid this, make a “support disk” as follows: With Shocking Pink, ch 2. Rnd 1- Work 8 sc in second ch from hook, sl st to join rnd. Rnd 2- Make 2 sc in each sc around. Fasten off, leaving long strand to sew with. Insert support disk inside toy and sew all around the tail from the inside, and with invisible, tiny stitches, sew above and below the tail to reduce “pulling”. Fasten off.
Ears- Front of Ear: (Make 2)- With Shocking pink, ch 2. Rnd 1- Make 6 sc in second ch from hook, sl st to join rnd. Rnd 2- Work 2 sc in each sc around. Rnd 3- 1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. Fasten off Shorking Pink. Rnd 4- Join Wedgewoods. Make 1 sc in each of first 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc around. Rnd 5- 1 sc in each sc around. Fasten off.
Back of Ear: (Make 2)- With Wedgewoods, rep first 5 rnds as for Front of Ear. Rnd 6- 1 sc in each of first 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. Rnd 7 1 sc in each sc around. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.
Sew ears together by palcing 1 front and 1 back together (wrong sides facing) and sewing all around, except the bottom. Insert opening at the bottom into upper side of toy as seen in photos, and sew in place. Fasten off.
Stuff legs and sew in place. Fasten off. Sew arms in place. Fasten off. Stuff body and sew top. Fasten off.
You’re done!
