This is the first of my Mookie Tookies. I don't know how many I will make (it all depends on how long the inspiration lasts), and in which direction they will go (but the fun is in not knowing!)
This is Whiskers the Cat. He's a lot of fun and easy to make. Enjoy!

Size- 10" tall x 9" wide

Materials-
Red Heart worsted weight yarn Blue (scraps)
Red Heart worsted weight yarn Bright Yellow (about half a skein)
Red Heart worsted weight yarn Paddy Green (scraps)
Red Heart worsted weight yarn Pumpkin (scraps)
Red Heart worsted weight yarn Spring Green (about half a skein)
Red Heart worsted weight yarn Hunter Green (scraps)
Red Heart worsted weight yarn  Royal (scraps)
Red Heart worsted weight yarn Carrot (scraps)
Red Heart worsted weight yarn  Baby Pink (scraps)
Red Heart worsted weight yarn  White (scraps)
Red Heart worsted weight yarn  Black (scraps)
Crochet hooks sizes H and F.
Fiberfill
Blunt needle to weave in ends
Scissors

Body-
With Blue and H hook, ch 2.
Rnd 1- 6 sc in second ch from hook. Sl st to join rnd. (6 sc)
Rnd 2- 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)
Rnd 3- 1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (18 sc)
Rnd 4- 1 sc in each of first 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (24 sc)
Rnd 5- 1 sc in each of first 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (30 sc) Fasten off Blue, weave in tail.
Rnd 6- Join Bright Yellow. Work 1 sc in each sc around. (30 sc)
Rnd 7- 1 sc in each of first 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (36 sc)
Rnd 8- 1 sc in each of first 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (42 sc) Fasten off Bright Yellow, weave in tails.
Rnd 9- Join Paddy green. Make 1 sc in each sc around. (42 sc)
Rnd 10- 1 sc in each of first 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (48 sc) Fasten off Paddy Green, weaving in tail.
Rnd 11- Join Pumpkin. Work 1 sc in each of first 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (54 sc)
Rnd 12- 1 sc in each of first 8 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (60 sc)
Rnd 13- 1 sc in each sc around. (60 sc) Fasten off Pumpkin, weave in tail.
Rnd 14- Join Spring Green. Make 1 sc in each of first 9 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (66 sc)
Rnd 15- 1 sc in each sc around. (66 sc)
Rnd 16- 1 sc in each of first 10 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (72 sc)
Rnds 17 to 18- 1 sc in each sc around. (72 sc) Fasten off Spring Green, weave in tail.
Rnd 19- Join Bright Yellow, make 1 sc in each sc around. (72 sc)
Rnd 20- 1 sc in each sc around. (72 sc)
Rnd 21- 1 sc in each of first 10 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc, rep around. (66 sc)
Rnd 22- 1 sc in each sc around. (66 sc)
Rnds 23 to 29- 1 sc in each sc around. (66 sc) Fasten off Bright Yellow, weave in tail.

From now on, we will work in rows, to give our little fellow his own personality.

Front-
Row 30- Fold Whiskers’ Body in half. Count 33 sc, join Bright Yellow yarn to next sc and in each of next 32 sc, leaving the other 33 sc un-worked.
Row 31- 1 sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. (33 sc)
Rows 3 to 35- 1 sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. (33 sc)
Row 36- 1 sc in each sc across. Fasten off Bight Yellow, leaving long tail to sew with.

Back-
Row 30- Fold Whiskers’ Body in half. Count 33 sc, join Bright Yellow yarn to next sc and in each of next 32 sc, leaving the other 33 sc un-worked.
Row 31- 1 sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. (33 sc)
Rows 3 to 35- 1 sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. (33 sc)
Row 36- 1 sc in each sc across. Fasten off Bight Yellow, leaving long tail to sew with.

Legs-
Leg #1-
With Blue and H hook, ch 2.
Rnd 1- Work 6 sc in second ch from hook, sl st to join rnd. (6 sc)
Rnd 2- 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)
Rnd 3- 1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (18 sc)
Rnd 4- 1 sc in each of first 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (24 sc)
Rnd 5- 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc) Fasten off Blue, weave in ends.
Rnd 5- Join Bright Yellow. Make 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc)
Rnd 6- 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc)
Rnds 7 to 8- 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc) Fasten off Bright Yellow, weave in tails.
Rnd 9- Join Hunter Green. Work 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc)
Rnd 10- 1 sc in each sc around. Fasten off Hunter, weave in tail.
Rnd 11- Join Pumpkin, make 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc)
Rnds12 to 13- 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc) Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.

Leg #2-
With Paddy Green and H hook, ch 2.
Rnd 1- Work 6 sc in second ch from hook, sl st to join rnd. (6 sc)
Rnd 2- 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)
Rnd 3- 1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (18 sc)
Rnd 4- 1 sc in each of first 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (24 sc)
Rnd 5- 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc) Fasten off Paddy Green, weave in ends.
Rnd 6- Join Pumpkin. Make 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc)
Rnds 7 to 10- 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc) Fasten off Pumpkin, weave in ends.
Rnd 11- Join Spring Green. Work 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc)
Rnds 12 to 13- 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc) Fasten off Spring, leaving long tail to sew with.

Arms-
Arm #1-
With Hunter and H hook, ch 2.
Rnd 1- Work 6 sc in second ch from hook, sl st to join rnd. (6 sc)
Rnd 2- 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)
Rnd 3- 1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (18 sc)
Rnds 4 to 5- 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc) Fasten off Hunter, weave in tails.
Rnd 6- Join Pumpkin. Make 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc)
Rnds 7 to 8- 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc) Fasten off Pumpkin, weave in ends.
Rnd 9- Join Bright Yellow. Work 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc)
Rnds 10 to 11- 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc) Fasten off Bright Yellow, leaving long tail to sew with.

Arm #2-
With Royal and H hook, ch 2.
Rnd 1- Work 6 sc in second ch from hook, sl st to join rnd. (6 sc)
Rnd 2- 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)
Rnd 3- 1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (18 sc)
Rnds 4 to 5- 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc) Fasten off Blue, weave in tails.
Rnd 6- Join Bright Yellow. Make 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc)
Rnd 7- 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc) Fasten off Bright Yellow, weave in tails.
Rnd 8- Join Paddy Green. Work 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc)
Rnd 9- 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc) Fasten off Paddy Green, weave in ends.
Rnd 10- Join Bright Yellow. Make 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc)
Rnd 11- 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc) Fasten off Bright Yellow, leaving long tail to sew with.

Thread blunt needle with Bright Yellow tails and sew top sides of toy. Fasten off and secure inside. Leave top open for now.

Ears-
Ear #1- (Make 2)
With Royal and H hook, ch 3.
Row 1- 1 sc in third ch from hook, ch 2, turn. (2 sc)
Row 2- 1 sc in second ch from hook and in next sc, 1 sc in top of turning ch. Ch 2, turn. (3 sc)
Row 3- 1 sc in second ch from hook and in each of next sc, 1 sc in top of turning ch. Ch 2, turn. (5 sc)
Row 4- 1 sc in second ch from hook and in each of next sc, 1 sc in top of turning ch. Ch 2, turn. (7 sc)
Row 5- 1 sc in second ch from hook and in each of next sc, 1 sc in top of turning ch. Ch 2, turn. (9 sc)
Row 6- 1 sc in second ch from hook and in each of next sc, 1 sc in top of turning ch. Ch 2, turn. (11 sc) Fasten off Royal, leaving long tail to sew with in one piece and weave in ends totally on the other triangle.

Sew both triangles together along the sides to form ear, leaving bottom open to stick to toy’s head. Fasten off, weave in tail.

Ear #2- (Make 2)
With Pumpkin and H hook, ch 3.
Row 1- 1 sc in third ch from hook, ch 2, turn. (2 sc)
Row 2- 1 sc in second ch from hook and in next sc, 1 sc in top of turning ch. Ch 2, turn. (3 sc)
Row 3- 1 sc in second ch from hook and in each of next sc, 1 sc in top of turning ch. Ch 2, turn. (5 sc)
Row 4- 1 sc in second ch from hook and in each of next sc, 1 sc in top of turning ch. Ch 2, turn. (7 sc)
Row 5- 1 sc in second ch from hook and in each of next sc, 1 sc in top of turning ch. Ch 2, turn. (9 sc)
Row 6- 1 sc in second ch from hook and in each of next sc, 1 sc in top of turning ch. Ch 2, turn. (11 sc) Fasten off Pumpkin, leaving long tail to sew with in one piece and weave in ends totally on the other triangle.

Muzzle- (Make 2)
With Carrot and H hook ch 2.
Rnd 1- In second ch from hook, work 6 sc, sl st to join rnd. (6 sc)
Rnd 2- 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)
Rnd 3- 1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (18 sc) Fasten off Carrot, leaving long tail to sew with.

With Measuring tape, measure Front, center Muzzle pieces right where Bright Yellow section begins at the top. Pin in place and sew. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Nose-
With Baby Pink and H hook, ch 3.
Row 1- 1 sc in third ch from hook, ch 2, turn. (2 sc)
Row 2- 1 sc in second ch from hook and in next sc, 1 sc in top of turning ch. Ch 2, turn. (3 sc)
Row 3- 1 sc in second ch from hook and in each of next sc, 1 sc in top of turning ch. Ch 2, turn. (5 sc) Fasten off Baby Pink, leaving long tail to sew with.

Place Nose in center top of Muzzle and pin down. Thread blunt needle with leftover yarn and sew in place. Fasten off, weave in tail.

Thread blunt needle with Black and embroider with stem stitch the form of the mouth as seen in photos. Fasten off, secure inside Head.

With Black, embroider whiskers as seen in photos. Fasten off, secure inside Head.

Eyes (Make 2)- 
With White and F hook, ch 7.
Rnd 1- 1 sc in third ch from hook and in each ch across. Working on foundation loops, work 1 hdc and 1 sc in first loop, 1 sc in each of next 3 loops, 1 hdc and 1 sc in last loop, sl st to join rnd. Fasten off, weave in ends.

Pin eyes 1 row above Muzzle and Nose, centering well. Thread blunt needle with Black and sew in place. Fasten off.

Pupil  and Iris of Eye (Make 2)-
Thread a blunt needle with Black and make a straight stitch 3 or 4 times in the very center of Whiskers’ eye. Fasten off, secure inside Body.
Now, thread blunt needle with Spring Green and stitch on both sides of the slit that is the pupil of the eye, in a “V” shape, to make the iris of the eye. Fasten off, secure inside of Head

Tail- 
With Spring Green and H hook, ch 38.
Row 1- 4 dc in fourth chain from hook, 5 dc in next ch, 5 dc in next ch and in each ch across. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.

Thread blunt needle and weave in beginning short tail. Thread blunt needle with leftover tail, and after measuring the Back of Whiskers, center the tail and pin it down. Sew in place. Fasten off and secure inside Body. (Sew firmly, you know kids like to pull tails!)

Begin to stuff Body but don’t close it yet, only to stabilize the bottom of Whiskers’ Body. Sew legs in place as seen in photos. Fasten off and secure yarn inside Body.

Do the same with the arms. Now finish stuffing. Sew top of head closed and weave in tail.
Place ears on corners of head and sew in place. Fasten off, weave in tails.

Done!
