Sheeppers the Funmigurumi Lamb Rattle

Best Blog Tips

If you love Amigurumi, you have found your home! That is what we're all about. Funmigurumi are a special kind of Amigurumi. To be a Funmigurumi, a toy has to be fun, it has to be funny, it has to mean love. So if you enjoy making cute and lovable Amis, this is your place!

Sheepers is Woolly's baby brother. When I made Woolly, I wanted to make a male version of her but couldn't get to it right away. Finally, here's her kid brother. I made him in a smaller scale. This will work wonderfully well for those of you who love little Amis, and for those of you who are making toys for babies and toddlers. When you make these, please remember your local hospital! They always can use some donations of cute toys for sick children. Now, here's Sheepers. Enjoy!

Kiwi the Funmigurumi Koala

Best Blog Tips

The excitement has been running high in the Koala Eucalyptus woods when they heard that the Gumpaw family was going to have twins. Now Funmigurumi, not being like the regular residents, are a little bit prone to cause a stir whenever something happens among them. And so, it was natural that the woods were abuzz when they heard the Gumpaws were going to have twins.
Papa and Mama Gumpaw were overjoyed when they learned they were having a boy and a girl, and decided to name them Kiwi and Kiki.
The twins arrived today, and the doctor almost fainted with amazement! When he saw them, he knew there was something really unusual about these babies. Those babies are almost glowing with COLOR!
Yes, they were are colored koalas! Mama Gumpaw had to admit to the doctor that she had not been following the diet he gave her of eating her Eucalyptus leaves every day. She said she had a binge for GUMBALLS! The brighter the color, the better, and Papa would sneak them in for her to have them at all hours. . .So there you have it! You really are what you eat and Kiwi, the first of the twins to be shown to us, is certainly a glowing example of an overdose of red, yellow, blue and green gumballs. Hope you have fun making one for yourself or someone you love! By the way, since Kiki (the girl) is smaller than her brother, Mama Gumpaw refuses to let her be seen until she gains a bit of weight. In the meantime, enjoy Kiwi!

Pupils (Make 2-

Rnd 1- Work 6 sc in second ch from hook, sl st to join rnd.

Sew each Pupil to White of Eye, fasten off and weave in tail. Sew Eyes to both sides to Top of Head. Fasten off, weave in tail on the wrong side of Head.
With Read and blunt needle, embroider Mouth on Rnd 8 of Top of Head, going from Eye to Eye, as seen in photos. Fasten off and weave in tail on wrong side of Head. Thread blunt needle with tail you left over to sew the Head. Insert cat ball at the bottom of Head, stuff all around and on top of it, place the top of the Head on top of the Bottom like a "cap," hold down with one hand while you sew all around with the other. Insert more stuffing through the sides if needed, as you continue to sew. Fasten off, weave in tail.

What you have now is a very floppy rattle. Some like it like that. It is wobbly and funny for a little child.
If your happy with it, leave it like that. I wanted it a bit sturdier, so I'll suggest two other steps you can make to make it a bit more rigid. I want it to bobble a little in a funny and crazy way that will make a baby giggle but not flop around every which way, so let's give it a supporting Ring.
Bottom Ring-
With Tea Leaf and h hook, ch 9, sl st to join ring.
Rnd 1- Work 15 hdc in ring, sl st to join rnd. (15 hdc)
Rnd 2- 1 sc in each hdc around. (15 sc)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew with.
Insert Ring in Handle, sew top of rint to Bottom of Head, and make some small stitches at the bottom of Ring around the Handle stick, this will reduce the floppiness.
Fasten off, weave in tail.
Done!

Woolly the Funmigurumi Lamb

Best Blog Tips

In the Funmigurumi farmlands, little lambs are not white or black, they come in cotton candy pink, sweet peppermint, vanilla ice cream and banana custard colors, and they are fun and just plain huggable! This little lamb follows the style of old patchwork toys and that is what makes her so unique and cute. It is quite easy to make for an intermediate crocheter and it will certainly receive lots of hugs from someone you love.

Difficulty: Intermediate Level
Size: 11” tall x 8 ½” wide or 32 cm tall x 20 cm wide (from top of head to hoof)
Completion time: A couple of days
Note: This pattern was written in American crochet terms. If you would like to make Woolly a boy, only change the Pink areas to Lt. Blue.
Optional- You can add Pink bows to the sides of Woolly's Head, between the Ears and the Wool at the Top of her Head, to make her more girlie.

Materials-
Red Heart Classic worsted weight yarn Mist Green (1 skein)
Red Heart Super Saver worsted weight yarn Baby Pink (about ½ skein)
If you are making this toy for a boy, substitute the Baby Pink for Red Heart worsted weight yarn Lt. Blue
Red Heart Super Saver worsted weight yarn Pale Yellow (about ½ skein)
Red Heart Super Saver worsted weight yarn Aran (about ½ skein)
Red Heart Super Saver worsted weight yarn Linen or Red Heart Classic worsted weight yarn Tan (less than ½ skein)
Red Heart Super Saver worsted weight yarn Black (scraps)
Red Heart Super Saver worsted weight yarn White (scraps)

Thread blunt needle with the yarn tails you left and sew together the two Front strips down the middle. Fasten off, weave in ends on the wrong side. Matching the directions of the colors you see for the Front Strips, place the two Back sides together and  sew down the middle, being careful to only sew the edge and not to catch any of the ruffles that form the “wool.” The best way to do this is to match the colors and place both strips with Front “wool” Sides facing each other and Wrong Sides facing you and to sew them down the middle using the appropriate colors, otherwise, it would be easy to get your needle caught in the “wool.” Fasten off, weave in ends. Now thread blunt needle with leftover tails and sew Front and Back sides together. Fasten off, weave in ends inside Body. Sew Bottom of Body closed, but leave the top open for now. Fasten off, weave in tails.

Rnds 3 to 7- rep rnd 2. Last rnd, work on Back Loops ONLY, leaving Front Loops to sew piece with. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.
Putting Woolly Together-
Stuff Arms and sew to Body. Fasten off, weave in tail inside body.
Stuff Legs and sew to Body. Fasten off, weave in tail inside body.
Stuff tail very lightly and sew to the center of Back, where all the “woolly” blocks meet.
Sew firmly, you know that children like to pull tails, and as you do, make sure the loops are do not get caught, secure end inside Body.
Stuff Muzzle and measure Front to center it. Leave 6 rows free on the Bottom of Front, and 7 free rows on the top. Pin it down. Sew all around. Secure ends inside Body.
Pin Eyes above Muzzle. Sew in place as shown. Stitch a couple of Eyelashes and then the Eyebrows as shown. Fasten off, weave in ends. With White make a couple of stitches to give the Eyes some light.
Stuff Woolly’s Body well, making sure the corners of the Body are well filled but without making lumps. Sew top of Body closed, weave in ends. Attach Ears and sew in place as shown, gathering it a little bit as you sew (especially the Pink underside) so that they will be a bit curved and not stick out like two antennas. Attach the round “Wool” for the top of the Head, centering it well and stuffing it slightly to raise it a bit above the Head. Sew. Fasten off, weave in end.

Funmigurumi Cutely Frogs: Leafy Sleek

Best Blog Tips

We continue the saga of the Frogs from the Chocolate Ponds of Funmigurumiland. I got word last week that we were getting a girl this time. She would be from the Clan of the Sleeks, the frog family living in the Chocolate Ponds nearby Syrup Falls, and Leafy was described to me as a girly frog, having "drumstick legs," a cherry cream smile, a severe addiction to bom boms and a happy disposition. I must admit my hopes were up but I wasn't ready for THIS! Don't you think she's cute? She's also a lot of fun to make, hope you enjoy making her! If you also make some for a children's charity or for your local hospital, I will love you forever!

Funmigurumi Cutely Frogs: Humpy the Leaper Toad

Best Blog Tips

Humpy is the second froggy friend to come out of the Chocolate Ponds. He's a member of the Leaper clan and a real character. When I heard that a toad was coming from the Chocolate Ponds, I was a bit concerned, but I was assured that he was not a scary little dude, but a little funny gent, as smooth as silly putty and as sweet as could be (since he hails from the upper part of the Chocolate Ponds, where the chocolate chip cookies float,) still, I had a chair nearby, just in case I had to climb on it and scream! But the he is, ready for hugs, and he's not scary at all.
