When we lived in Washington State (a state I love), we had a
friend and neighbor who had a dog who liked to chew on shoes. One afternoon,
after taking a long walk with friends, we came home with muddy shoes (mine were
sneakers) and left them on the front door until they were dry, and went into
the house. I came back later to pick up my sneakers only to find them all
chewed up. The kids had accustomed the dog to be quiet by allowing it to chew
on old shoes, so he took my sneakers to amuse himself. The whole thing wasn’t
funny then, but it is now, so I have named this dog Sneakers. Here is the little rascal inspired by this now hilarious episode in my life. Enjoy!

Now, we will stop working in rounds, we will work in rows,
to give our little guy the square top that is characteristic of our Mookie
Tookies. We will do a little math, but don’t be afraid, it’s quite easy!
We have now 64 stitches around, and we want to work in two
sections of 16 stitches each in Front (to give him a bi-colored top), and we
will do the same at Back.
16 x 4=64. So it has to be exactly 16 stitches. To make it
easier, we will work in sections which we will later on, sew together.
