Funmigurumi Stripey Cat No. 4--- Nelson

Best Blog Tips

Like all my toys, Nelson has a personality all his own. His cheerful and bright colors and pudgy shape are sure to delight any child and he's a breeze to make!
Many designers prefer the round amigurumi shape but I like to go with the "pillow" style. They are faster to make, easier on a beginner and you can amost never go wrong with them. They are just as huggable and cuddly for a child and just as lovable for any adult collector of handmade toys. If you have never tried your hand at one of these, do it! They are quite enjoyable to make and not that hard!

Rnds 11 to 12- Make 1 sc in each sc around using Soft Navy. Leave long tail to sew with.
Tail- Cut 2 yards each of Aruba Sea, Bright Yellow, Spring Green and Shocking Pink. Fold in half and tie a knot leaving a loop at the top. Right underneath that loop, make a nother loop, the kind you use to start crocheting and using the H hook, crochet a chain about 9 1/2" long (doesn't need to be exact). Tie a knot at the bottom, snip the ends straight and leave like a tiny tassel, and using the loop on top, sew the tail to the back part of hte body (Aruba sea stripe section). Follwing the photos, center the mouth and whipstitch it in place, cover part of it with the two circles that form the muzzle and pin them down, then whipstitch them in place. Top the muzzle with the nose and sew it in place. Place the eyes in place, measuring that they be well centered, and pin them down. Then, take some black scraps and whipstitch them in place. When you come to the center, make a "V" in each eye to form the pupil. Fasten off. Measure the top of the head and place the bangs well centered. Sew in place. Now, put both front sides of the body facing each other and whipstitch them together all around, using the long tails you left. Fasten off. Turn the cat inside out. Stuff legs and sew in place. Fasten off. Stuff cat. Sew top of the head, closing carefully not to entangle the bangs but making a nest seam that will trap the sewing of the bangs inside so the edge will be neat. Sew the ears in place. Stuff the arms and sew them in place.

I won't crochet it, because I have about 20 wips now, I just wanted to let you know this is a cutie.
