Funmigurumi Stripey Cat No. 6---Cutie Lilly

This is my sixth cat! Can you tell by now that I love cats? I have a kitty named Lilly, so allow me to name this one after her.

Body (make 2)- With Spring Green and H hook, ch 33. Row 1- 1 sc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across (32 sc). Ch 1, turn. Rows 2 to 4- 1 sc in each sc across. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with. Rows 5 to 15- Join Pumpkin, make 1 sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with. Rows 16 to 18- Join Aruba Sea, make 1 sc in each sc across row. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with. Rows 19 to 31- Join Cherry Red and make 1 sc in each sc across. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with. If you want to, sew bottom and sides of body as soon as you have finished both sides (I like to finish as I go, it makes the toy come alive quicker), leaving the top open for stuffing. Place both right sides facing and sew the sides and the bottom using the tails you left as you crocheted. Fasten off. Turn both inside out and set aside.
"Face"- Spot- With Buff and F hook, ch 5. Row 1- Make 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Row 2-2 sc in 1st sc and make 1 sc in each sc until you reach the end of the row, 2 sc in last sc to end row. Ch, turn. Row 3-Make 2 sc in 1st sc, 1 sc in each sc across, 2 sc in last sc to end row. Row 4- Rep row 3. Row 5- Make 1 sc in each sc across. Row 6- Make 2 sc in first sc, 1 sc in each sc to end of row, 2 sc in last sc of row. Ch 1, turn. Row 7- Make 1 sc in each sc across. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with. With measuring tape, measure both sides of Lilly's body at the level of the head, positioning the "spot" high up in the red portion, centered. Pin it and using tail, sew it in place. Fasten off.
Mouth- With Cherry red and H hook, ch 2. Make 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Fasten off. Join Pretty N' Pink. Make 2 sc in each sc around. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.
Nose- With Black and H hook, ch 2. Row 1- 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch 2, turn. Row 2- 1 sc in 2nd ch from hok and in next sc, 1 sc in top of turning ch. Ch 2, turn. Row 3- 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with. Muzzle (make 2)- With Buff and H hook, ch 2. Rnd 1- Make 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Rnd 2- Make 2 sc in each sc around. Rnd 3- Make 1 sc in each of first 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc. *1 sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * around. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with. Pin both pieces of Muzzle at both sides of the "spot" as shown in photos, position mouth in between and directly underneath, pin as well. Then sew one piece at a time with the tails you left off when you fastened off. Fasten off. Place Nose in place as you see in the photos. Pin. Sew in place. Fasten off. Thread blunt needle with Black and sew whiskers as seen in pictures.
Eyes (make 2)- With H hook and Spring Green, ch 2. Row 1- Make 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (DO NOT JOIN INTO A CIRCLE), ch 1, turn. Row 2- Make 1 sc in same spot as ch 1, make 2 sc in each sc across. Fasten off. Pin eyes in place as in photos. Thread blunt needle with Black and stitch eyes in place, as you go, make some "eye lashes" and also stitch the long pupils into the eyes. Fasten off.
Ears- (Make 4 pieces)- With H hook and Cherry Red, repeat the nose rows but continue increasing until you have made 7 rows. Fasten off,leaving long tail to sew with in two of them. Place both right side pieces of an ear facing each other and sew together. Repeat with the other one. Leave bottom open to stick to the corners of the cat's head as seen in photos.
Tail- With Pumpkin and H hook, ch 39. Row 1- Make 5 dc in 4th ch from hook, work 6 dc in nex chain, make 6 dc in next chain and repeat in each chain across, letting the chain curl. Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew with. Measure back of the cat to center the tail. Sew to the back of Cutie Lilly at the level of the 8th row of Pumpkin (counting f rom below upwards). Secure well, just in case a child pulls the toy by the tail.
Legs (make 2)- With H hook and Cherry red, ch 2. Rnd 1- Make 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Rnd 2- Make 2 sc in each sc around. Rnd 3- Make 1 sc in each of 1st 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. Rnd 4- Make 1 sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. Fasten off. Join Spring Green. Rnds 5 to 13- Make 1 sc in each sc around. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.
Arms (make 2)- With H hook and Cherry Red, rep rnds 1-3 of legs. Rnd 4- Make 1 sc in each sc around. Fasten off. Join Spring Green. Rnds 5 to 6- Make 1 sc in each sc around. Fasten off. Join Pumpkin. Rnd 7- Make 1 sc in each sc around. Fasten off. Join Aruba Sea. Rnd 8- Make 1 sc in each sc around. Fasten off. Join Cherry Red. Rnds 9 to 11- Make 1 sc in each sc around. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.
Stuff legs lightly and sew to body. Stuff arms lightly and sew to sides of body within the red portion of body, making sure they are at the same level. Stuff body and sew top. Stuff ears lightly and sew to top of body.

Nose- With Black, ch 3. Row 1- 1 sc in 2nd ch from hk, ch 2, turn. Row 2- 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 2, turn. Rows 3 to 4- Rep row 2. Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew with.

Rnd 3- 1 sc in each of first 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (18 sc). Rnd 4- 1 sc in each of first 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around (24 sc.) Fasten off. Join Cherry Red. Rnds 5 to 6- make 1 sc in each sc around. Fasten off Cherry Red, Join Bright Yellow. Rnd 7 to 8- 1 sc in each sc around in Bright Yellow. Fasten off. Join Spring Green. Rows 9 to 10- Make 1 sc in each sc around with Spring Green. Fasten off. Join Carrot. Row 11- Rep previous row with Carrot. Fasten off. Join Kelly Green. Rows 12 to 14- Make 1 sc in each sc around with Kelly Green. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.
Arms- With H hook and Kelly Green rep the first 3 rows for legs. (18 sc). Continue rnd 4- 1 sc in each sc around still in Kelly Green. Fasten off. Then follow the previous order of colors: Rnds 5 to 6- Rep with Cherry Red. Fasten off. Rnds 7 to 8- Make 1 sc in each sc around using Bright Yellow. Fasten off. Rnds 9 to 10- Rep with Spring Green. Fasten off. Rnd 11- Make 1 sc in each sc around using Carrot. Leave long tail to sew with.
Tail- With Carrot, and H hook, ch 39. Make 3 dc in 4ht ch from hook. Make 4 dc in next ch, and in each chain across, letting the tail curl as you go. When you reach the end of the tail, make 3 dc and 3 ch in last chain and slip st to finish, leaving a long tail to sew with. Measure to make sure you've got the center. Sew to the back of Max's body at the level of the 1st row of Carrot(counting from the bottom of the stripe of color). Fasten off.
Place both right sides of body facing each other and sew sides, leaving top of Max's body open. Turn inside out. Sew Muzzle and nose in place following photos. Use tail of Pumpking for the upper part of the muzzle, and a scrap of Black for the bottom "smile".
Whiskers- With scraps of Black and a blunt needle, embroider the whiskers as seen in photos.
Make eyes as follows- With H hook and Spring Green ch 7. Row 1- Make 1 sc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across (6 sc). Note- ch 1 equals 1 sc. Row 2- 1 sc in each of next 4 sc, sl st in last sc. Slip stitch and turn. Row 3-1 sc in each of next 3 sc, slip stitch to end row. Fasten off. Weave in tail. Now, look at the photos and place Max's eyes above muzzle as you see in the pictures. Pin them. Take a blunt needle with scraps of Black and sew them in place all around. As you go, stitch inside the eye several times to make the expressive pupils. Take a scrap of Black and embroider the eyebrows. Fasten off. Stuff legs and sew in place. Fasten off. Sew outer sides of the "head" leaving the center open. At both ends, place the ears and sew them in place. Stuff body, and the head closed.

Wilson is a bright-colored and cheerful Funmigurumi with a personality all his own! He's very easy to make and works up really fast.

Fasten off (I like to leave a long tail to sew with that same tail, but if you like to fasten off completely and later on thread a fresh bit of yarn to sew with, by all means, do it.). Rows 7 to 9- Join Spring Green. Make 1 c in each sc across. Fasten off. Rows 10 to 11- Join Bright Yellow and make 1 sc in each c across. Fasten off.
Rows 12 to 14- Join Blue and work 1 sc in each sc across. Fasten off. Rows 15-19- Join Cherry red and make 1 sc in each sc across. Fasten off. Join Pumpkin. Rows 20 to 32- 1 sc in each sc across. Fasten off.
Muzzle (make 2)- With G hook and Bright Yellow, ch 2. Rnd 1- Make 6 sc in 2nd ch from hk, slip st to join rnd. Rnd 2- 2 sc in each sc around, sl st to join rnd. Rnd 3- 1 sc in each of first 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat around. Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew with.
Mouth- With Pretty N' Pink and G hook, ch 2. Rnd 1- Make 6 sc in 2nd ch from hk, sl st to join rnd. Join Baby Pink. Rnd 2-Make 2 sc in each sc around. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.
Nose- With Black and G hook, ch 2. Row 1-Make 1 sc in 2nd ch from hk, ch 2, turn. Row 2- Make 1 sc in 2nd ch from hk and in each of next sc. Ch 2, turn. Repear this row until you have completed 3 row in total and have 6 sc across. Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew with.
Place both pieces of the body with right sides facing and sew both sides to each other, sew the top as well, leaving the bottom open for stuffing. Set body aside and work on the ears.
Ears- With Cherry red and H hook, ch 2. Row 1- Sc in 2nd ch from hk, ch 2, turn. 1 sc in second ch from hook, 1 sc in next sc and in top of turning ch. Ch 2, turn. Row 2- Sc in 2nd ch from hk and in each sc across. Ch 2, turn. Rep Row 2 until you have completed 6 rows, counting from row 1. Fasten off. In the last two pieces, leave tails long enough to sew with. Place wrong sides facing and whip stitch all around, leaving the
bottom open. Stick the ear into the corner of the cat's head and sew the bottom of the ear to the crocheted fabric of the cat's body as you can see in the photo. Fasten off, weave in tail.
This is another way to make the ears: Ears (make 4 pieces)-
Ch 2. 1 sc in second ch from hook, ch 2, turn, 1 sc in second ch from hook, and in each sc across. Ch 2, turn.
Continue this way until you have completed 6 rows. Fasten off, leaving long tails to sew in at least 2 of the pieces.
Pick up the body again, measure the front of Wilson's body and pin the mouth in place, well centered, between the last row of Cherry Red and the beginning row of the solid Pumpkin part. Sew in place all around and fasten off. Superimpose the muzzle as you see in the pictures, leaving only a portion of the round that forms the mouth to show. Pin and sew all around.
Place the nose as seen in photos, superimposed over the spot in between both rounds of the muzzle, pin in place and sew all around.
Whiskers- With Blunt needle threaded with Black yarn, stitch whiskers as seen in photos. Eyes- With Spring green and G hook, ch 2. Row- Make 5 sc in 2nd ch from hk (DO NOT JOIN INTO A ROUND.) Ch 1, turn. Row 2-Make 2 sc in each sc across. (10 sc.) Fasten off. Thread blunt needle with Balck and placing eyes where you see them in the photos, whipstitch them onto Wilson's head, thus immitating eyelashes, as you go around, make a long stitch into each eye to immitate the pupil of the eye.
Legs- With H hook and Pumpkin, ch 2. Rnd 1- Make 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st to join rnd.
Rnd 2-2 sc in each sc around (12 sc). Rnd 3- 1 sc in each of first 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (18 sc). Rnd 4- 1 sc in each of first 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around (24 sc.) Rnd 5- make 1 sc in each sc around. Fasten off Pumpkin. Rnd 6 to 9- 1 sc in each as around in the following order of colors: 1- Spring Green; 2-Bright Yellow; 3- Blue; 4-Cherry red. Fasten off. Join Pumpkin. Make rows 10 to 13-Rep row 5.
Arms- With H hook and Pumpkin rep the first 3 rows for legs. Rnds 4 to 5- 1 sc in each sc around (18 sc). Rnds 6 to 9- 1 sc in each sc around in the following colors: 1- Spring Green; 2- Bright Yellow; 3- Blue; 4- Cherry Red; Fastenoff. Join Pumpkin. Rnds 10 to 11- 1 sc in each sc around with Pumpkin. Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew with.
Stuff the arms and sew them in place as you see them in the photos (about two ros below the ears.) Make the tail.
Tail- With Bright Yellow and H hook, ch 39. Make 3 dc in 4th ch from hook. Make 4 dc in next ch, and in each chain across, letting the tail curl as you go. When you reach the end of the tail, make 3 dc and 3 ch in last chain and slip st to finish, leaving a long tail to sew with. Sew to the back of Wilson's body at the level of the 2nd row of Bright Yellow (Row 11 of Body). Fasten off.
Stuff body, and sew bottom. Stuff legs and sew in place. Fasten off.
Wilson's is ready to play and to love!
