Funmigurumi Cuddlers: Hallie the Bear

Do you know a little girl who hates some feature about herself? The shape of her nose, the fact that she has freckles, the color of her hair, the fact that she's taller than her friends or that she has to wear glasses or braces, or something like that? Make Hallie for her!
Hallie is a love-the-way-you-are comfort Cuddler bear. If you have noticed, her ears are too big for her head, and she didn't like that, until her friends made her realize that she was special to them, just the way she was. Make your favorite little girl realize she's special too, just the way she is!

Materials-

Red Heart worsted weight yarn, Burgundy (1/2 skein)

Red Heart worsted weight yarn, Shocking Pink (1/2 skein)

Red Heart worsted weight yarn, Pretty 'N Pink (1/2 skein)

Red Heart worsted weight yarn, Black (1 yard and 6" for Nose, and 1 yard and 6" for each Eye, Eyelashes and Eyebrow)

Red Heart worsted weight yarn, Baby Pink (5 yards for Muzzle)

Crochet hook size H

Fiberfill

Pins

Scissors

Measuring tape (if you needed to measure and position Muzzle)

Optional: Something to apply color to the cheeks (I used chalk Artist's pastels, which are permanent)

Body-

With Burgundy and H hook, ch 31.

Row 1- 1 sc in third ch from hook and in each ch across. (30 sc, counting ch bump of first sc) Ch 1, turn.

Row 2- 1 sc in each sc across and in top of chain bump of first sc. (30 sc) Ch 1, turn.

Rows 3 to 4- 1 sc in each sc across. (30 sc) Ch 1, turn.

Row 5- 1 sc in each sc across.

Row 6- 1 sc in each sc across. (30 sc) Ch 1, turn.

Rows 7 to 13- 1 sc in each sc across. (30 sc) Ch 1, turn. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.

Row 14- Join Shocking Pink. Work sc2tog over first 2 sc 1 sc in each sc until last 2 sc, sc2tog over last 2 sc. (28 sc)

Row 15- Insert hook into first reduced st, pull up a loop, insert hook into next sc and pull up a loop, complete an sc2tog over these two loops, 1 sc in each sc till last sc, insert hook into last sc and pull up a loop, insert hook in top of last reduced sc of previous row, and work an sc2tog over those two loops. (26 sc)

Row 16- Rep row 15. (24 sc)      

Row 17- Rep row 15. (22 sc)

Row 18- Rep row 15. (20 sc)

Row 19- Rep Row 15. (18 sc)

Row 20- Rep Row 15. (16 sc)

Row 21- Rep Row 15. (14 sc) Fasten off, weave in tail.

Row 22- Join Pretty 'N Pink. Work 1 sc in each sc across. (14 sc)

Row 23- 1 sc in each of first 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each sc till end of row. (16 sc) Ch 1, turn.

Row 24- 1 sc in each of first 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 9 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each sc till end of row. (18 sc) Ch 1, turn.

Row 25- 1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 13 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each sc till end of row. (20 sc) Ch 1, turn.

Row 26- 1 sc in each of first 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 10 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each sc till end of row. (22 sc) Ch 1, turn.

Row 27- 1 sc in each of first 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 10 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each sc till end of row. (24 sc) Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.

Row 28- 1 sc in each of first 8 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each sc till end of row. (26 sc) Ch 1, turn.

Row 29- 1 sc in each of first 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each sc till end of row. (30 sc) Ch 1, turn.

Row 30- 1 sc in each sc across. (30 sc) Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.

Row 31- 1 sc in each sc across. (30 sc) Ch 1, turn.

Rows 32 to 35- 1 sc in each sc across. (30 sc) Ch 1, turn.

Row 36- 1 sc in each sc across. (30 sc) Fasten off Pretty N' Pink, leaving long tail to sew with.

Once you have made both Front and Back of Body, sew Sides and Bottom together, using tails, leave Top open till the end, stuff Body as you sew. Fasten off, weave in tails. Stuff firmly, taking care of filling the corners well.

Arms (Make 2)-

With Shocking Pink and H hook, ch 2.

Rnd 1- Work 6 sc in second ch from hook. Sl st to join rnd. (6 sc)

Rnd 2- 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3- 1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (18 sc)

Rnds 4 to 6- 1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (18 sc) Fasten off Shocking Pink, weave in ends.

Stuff as you go!

Rnd 7- Join Pretty 'N Pink, work 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc)

Rnds 8 to 11- 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc) Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.

Fastenoff, weave in tails.

Rnd 12- Join Shocking Pink and make 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc)

Rnds 13 to 14- 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc) Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.

Stuff Arms and sew to sides of Body as seen in photos. Fasten off, weave in tails.

Legs (Make 2-)

With Burgundy and H hook, ch 2.

Rnd 1- Work 6 sc in second ch from hook. Sl st to join rnd. (6 sc)

Rnd 2- 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3- 1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (18 sc)

Rnd 4- 1 sc in each of first 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (24 sc)

Stuff as you go!

Rnds 5 to 14- 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc) Fasten off Burgundy, leaving long tail to

sew with.

Stuff Legs and sew them to Body as seen in photos. Fasten off, weave in tails.

Muzzle-

With Baby Pink and H hook, ch 2.

Rnd 1- Work 6 sc in second ch from hook, sl st to join rnd. (6 sc)

Rnd 2- 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3- 1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (18 sc)

Rnd 4- 1 sc in each of first 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (24 sc)

Rnd 5- 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc)

Rnd 6- 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc) Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.

Nose-

With Black and H hook, ch 2.

Rnd 1- Work 6 sc in second ch from hook. Sl st to join rnd. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew and to embroider Mouth with.

Pin Nose to the center of Muzzle and sew in place. Don't Fasten Off!

Mouth-

Embroider Mouth as seen in photos. Fasten off, weave in tail inside of Muzzle.

Stuff Muzzle with Fiberfill and center it and pin it to Hallie's face. Sew it on using tail you left. Fasten off and weave in ends inside of Head.

Eyes (Make 2)-

With Black and H hook, ch 2.

Rnd 1- Work 6 sc in second ch from hook, sl st to join rnd. (6 sc) Fasten off, leaving long enough tail to sew Eye with and also to work Eyelashes and a short Eyebrow.

Pin Eyes to Face and sew to between rows 4 and 5 of Head, counting from the Top. Make 3 long stitches as you o for Eyelashes, and as you reach the top, work 2 long diagonal stitches for Eyebrows. Fasten off and weave in tails inside of Head. Thread blunt needle with White, and make 3 dots of White on each Eye as seen in photos. Fasten off, weave in tails inside of Head.

Ears (Make 2)-

With Pretty 'N Pink and h hook, ch 2.

Rnd 1- Work 6 sc in second ch from hook, sl st to join rnd. (6 sc)

Rnd 2- 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3- 1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (18 sc)

Rnds 4 to 6- 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc) Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.

Sew Ears to sides of Head as seen in photos. Fasten off, weave in tails.
