A few days ago, I shared my dialog with her. (The State of Things...) Spunky and bossy little girl who couldn't wait to be put together and come out and meet you all! Well, here she is, our first Platypus ever. Enjoy!

Materials-
Red Heart worsted weight yarn Claret (4 oz.)
Red Heart worsted weight yarn Shocking Pink (4 oz.)
Red Heart worsted weight yarn Pretty'N Pink (4 oz.)
Red Heart worsted weight Black yarn (Scraps, but to be exact, you’ll need 2 yards,  1 yard and per Eye and Eyelashes)
Crochet hook size H
Scissors
Fiberfill
Blunt needle
Measuring tape (to center things)
Pins

Size- 13' L x 9" W
Skill- Intermediate

Body (Make 2)-
With Claret and H hook, ch 31.
Row 1- 1 sc in third ch from hook and in each ch across. (30 sc, counting ch bump of first st) Ch 1, turn.
Row 2- 1 sc in each sc across, and in top of ch bump of first st. (30 sc) Ch 1, turn.
Row 3- 1 sc in each sc across. (30 sc) Ch 1, turn.
Rows 4 to 14- 1 sc in each sc across. (30 sc) Fasten off Claret, leaving long tail to sew with.
Row 15- Join Shocking Pink. Work 1 sc in each sc across. (30 sc)Ch 1, turn.
Row 16- Work sc2tog over first 2 sc 1 sc in each sc until last 2 sc, sc2tog over last 2 sc. (28 sc)
Row 17-  Insert hook into first reduced st, pull up a loop, insert hook into next sc and pull up a loop, complete an sc2tog over these two loops, 1 sc in each sc till last sc, insert hook into last sc and pull up a loop, insert hook in top of last reduced sc of previous row, and work an sc2tog over those two loops. (26 sc)
Row 18- Rep row 15. (24 sc)
Row 19- Rep row 15. (22 sc)
Row 20- Rep row 15. (20 sc)
Row 21- Rep Row 15. (18 sc)
Row 22- Rep Row 15. (16 sc)
Row 23- Rep Row 15. (14 sc)
Stuff as you go!
Row 24-  Work 1 sc in each sc across. (14 sc) Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.
Row 25- Join Pretty 'N Pink, work 1 sc in each sc across. (14 sc) Ch 1, turn.
Row 26- 1 sc in each of first 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each sc till end of row. (16 sc) Ch 1, turn.
Row 27- 1 sc in each of first 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 8 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each sc till end of row. (18 sc) Ch 1, turn.
Row 28- 1 sc in each of first 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each sc till end of row. (22 sc) Ch 1, turn.
Row 29- 1 sc in each of first 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each sc till end of row. (26 sc) Ch 1, turn.
Row 30- 1 sc in each of first 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, [1 sc in each of next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc,] rep 3 more times, 1 sc in each sc till end of row. (30 sc)
Row 31- 1 sc in each sc across. (30 sc)
Rows 32 to 34- 1 sc in each sc across. (30 sc) Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.

Webbed Feet (Make 2)-
With Pumpkin and H hook, ch 14.
Rnd 1- 1 sc in third ch from hook and in each ch till last ch, 3 sc in last ch, now, working on opposite side across foundation loops of the beginning ch, make 1 sc in each loop till last loop, 2 sc in last loop. Sl st to join rnd. (28 sc, counting ch bump of first sc as 1 sc)
Rnd 2- 1 sc in each sc around. (28 sc)
Rnd 3- 1 sc in each sc around. (28 sc)
Rnd 4- 1 sc in each of first 18 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc, 1 sc in each of next 4 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc, 1 sc in each sc till end of rnd. (26 sc)
Rnd 5- 1 sc in each sc around. (26 sc)
Rnd 6- 1 sc in each of first 15 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc, 1 sc in each of next 6 sc, sc2tog over last 2 sc of rnd. (24 sc)
Rnd 7- 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc)
Row 8- Sl st in each of first 3 sts, 1 sc in each of next 12 sc, ch 1, turn, leaving the rest of the stitches unworked. (12 sc)
Row 9- 1 sc in each sc across. (12 sc) Ch 1, turn.
Row 10- 1 sc in each sc across. (12 sc)
Row 11- Sc2tog over first 2 sc, 1 sc in each sc till last 2 sc, sc2tog over last 2 sc. (10 sc)
Row 12- Sc2tog over first 2 sc, 1 sc in each sc till last 2 sc, sc2tog over last 2 sc. (8 sc)
Row 13- Sc2tog over first 2 sc, 1 sc in each sc till last 2 sc, sc2tog over last 2 sc. (6 sc) Ch 1, turn.
Row 14- 1 sc in each sc across. (6 sc)
Rnd 15- Work 32 sc all around the edge of the Foot. Sl st to join rnd. (32 sc) Fasten off, weave in tail.
Stuff as you go!
Rnd 16- Rejoin yarn, just so that you will not workinging on the wrong side as you go around the foot. Make 1 sc in each of first 3 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc, [1 sc in each of next 3 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc,] rep 5 more times, 1 sc in each sc till end of rnd. (24 sc)
Rnd 17- 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc)
Rnds 18 to 19- 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc) Foot completed. Fasten off, weave in tails.
Ankle-
Rnd 20- Join Bright Yellow. Work 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc)
Rnds 21 to 24- 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc) Fasten off, weave in tails.
Leg-
Rnd 25- Join Shocking Pink, work 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc)
Rnds 26 to 27- 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc) Fasten off yarn, weave in tails.
Rnd 28- Join Claret amd make 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc)
Rnd 29- 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc)
Rnds 30 to 32- 1 sc in each sc around. (24 sc) Fasten off yarn, leaving long tail to sew with.

Rnd 6- 1 sc in each of first 4 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc, *1 sc in each of net 4 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc, rep from * around. (20 sc)
Rnd 7- 1 sc in each sc around. (20 sc)
Rnd 8- 1 sc in each of first 7 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc, 1 sc in each of next 7 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc, 1 sc in each sc till end of rnd. (18 sc)
Rnd 9- 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc) Fasten off Pumpkin, weave in tails.
Wrist-
Rnd 10- Join Bright Yellow. Work 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc)

Stuff as you go!
Rnds 12 to 13- 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc) Fasten off yarn, weave in tails.
Rnd 14- Join Shocking Pink, make 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc)
Rnds 15 to 16- 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc) Fasten off yarn, weave in tails.
Rnd 17- Join Claret. Work 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc)
Rnds 18 to 23- 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc) Fasten off yarn, leaving long tail to sew with.

Sew Sides and Bottom of Body together, leaving Top open, stuff as you go! Fasten off, weave in tails inside of Body.
Sew Legs to Body, fasten off, weave in tails. Sew Arms to Body, fasten off, weave in tails.
Tail-
With Claret and H hook, ch 2.
Rnd 1- Make 6 sc in second ch from hook, sl st to join rnd. (6 sc)
Rnd 2- 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)
Rnd 3- 1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (18 sc)
Rnd 4- 1 sc in each of first 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (24 sc)
Rnd 5- 1 sc in each of first 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (30 sc)
Rnd 6- 1 sc in each of first 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (36 sc)
Rnd 7- 1 sc in each of first 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (42 sc)
Rnd 8- 1 sc in each of first 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep around. (48 sc)
Rnds 9 to 11- 1 sc in each sc around. (48 sc)
Rnd 12- 1 sc in each of first 6 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc, rep around. (42 sc) Fasten off Claret, weave in tails.
Rnd 13- Join Shocking Pink. Work 1 sc in each sc around. (42 sc)
Rnd 14- Make 1 sc in each of first 5 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc, rep around. (36 sc)
Rnd 15- 1 sc in each of first 4 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc, rep around. (30 sc)
Rnd 16- 1 sc in each sc around. (30 sc)
Rnd 17- 1 sc in each of first 2 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc, [1 sc in each of next 2 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc,] rep 5 more times, 1 sc in each sc till end of rnd. (24 sc)
Rnd 18- 1 sc in first sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc, rep around. (18 sc) Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with. Stuff tail VERY gently, only so that it won't be all wrinkled up, but do NOT turn it into a round ball!
Measure Back and center tail and pin and sew in place. Fasten off, weave in tails.
Note- I did not want to make the tail as a flat disk because it would have curled with use, this way, it will stay the way it is now.
Beak-
With Pumpkin and H hook, ch 12.
Rnd 1- 1 sc in third ch from hook and in each ch across till last ch, 2 sc in last ch. Working on opposite side across foundation loops, make 1 sc in each loop till last loop, 2 sc in last loop. Sl st to join rnd. (23 sts, counting ch bump of first st)
Rnd 2- 1 sc in each sc around. (23 sc)
Rbd 3- 1 sc in each sc around. (23 sc)
Rnd 4- 1 sc in each of first 4 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc, 1 sc in each of next 6 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc, 1 sc in each sc till end of rnd. (20 sc)
Rnd 5- 1 sc in each of first 6 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc, 1 sc in each of next 6 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc, 1 sc in each sc till end of rnd. (18 sc)
Rnd 6- 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc)
Rnd 7- 1 sc in each sc around. (18 sc) Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with.

Measure Front of Head and center Beak and sew in place 5 rnds below the edge of Head. Fasten off and weave in tails inside of Head.

Eyes (Make 2)-
With Black and Hook hook, ch 2.
Rnd 1- Work 6 sc in second ch from hook, sl st to join rnd. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew Eye with and to stitch Eyelashes as you go.

Position Eyes a little above and to the sides of Beak and pin down. Stitch the Eyelashes as seen in photos as you go. Fasten off and weave in tails inside of Head.
Stuff Head and sew top. Fasten off, weave in tail.
